Avondale
Avondale was built in 1826 and used as a double height Chapel for the local community of Corn Mill and Slate Quarry workers. The wall and railings at the front of the properties are typical of chapels from this time, and Avondale still has its original double opening front doors. In 1904 the congregation and was so large a new chapel was built closer to the centre of Rhewl and the building was converted into a house. The original large roof timbers for the double height roof can still be seen.
Avondale has four bedrooms ; one has a king bed, one a double, one a triple bunk (double on bottom, single on top) and one has twin beds, sleeping 9 overall. There is a large living room with log burner and a separate dining room. The large kitchen is well equipped with electric cooker, fridge freezer and dishwasher. The washing machine is in the porch area next to the kitchen. Upstairs there is a bathroom with (very) large bath and ceiling mounted rain shower. There is an additional toilet upstairs, as well as shower room at ground level and extra toilet by the hot tub / garden.
Avondale benefits from a wood fired hot tub with outstanding views, ample hardstanding seating and BBQ areas, & large garden with pathway directly down to the River Dee. The views are unspoilt and stunning at any time of the year.
