Things to do
Many of the activities in and around Llangollen originate from its location on the River Dee and the historical significance of the area.

Enjoy a days fishing on The River Dee, one of the purest rivers in Europe and internationally renowned for brown trout and grayling fishing, also with good runs of salmon and sea trout throughout the season. Day tickets available.
The Llangollen canal was built by Thomas Telford between 1795 and 1805 originates at the famous Horseshoe Falls and runs across Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. The aqueduct is the largest in Britain with 18 Piers 126ft high and 19 arches each with a 45ft span. There is a canal tow path along the full run of the canal, or save your legs with a ride on a powered or horse drawn canal boat.

If you want something more exciting there are now many companies in the area offering high adrenalin activities such as white water rafting and canoeing. Or bring your bike and visit “One Giant Leap” or Llandegla bike park or just enjoy the many scenic routes in the area.

The Llangollen Steam Train runs regularly from Llangollen to Corwen with plenty of special events such as Santa run and visits from Thomas the Tank Engine.

There are stunning walks from the doorstep and plenty of places to visit and see, such as Castell Dinas Bran, Plas Newydd and Llantysilio Church.

Once you have finished all your activities there are a good selection of cafes, restaurants and shops in and around Llangollen.
